The Vault is a science-backed environment designed to move your vocabulary from short-term "glimpses" into permanent, long-term retention.

1. 4D Vocabulary Cards (The Frayer Model)
Most apps give you a basic translation. We give you a comprehensive mental map. Clicking any word in your bank generates an interactive Frayer Model Card that builds a richer, more connected memory of the word:

• Visual Representation: Every card includes a targeted image, so each word is stored as both a picture and a word. This creates two distinct routes to recall instead of one (dual coding).
• Definition & Characteristics: Learn the precise meaning, plus the nuances of how the word behaves in context.
• Examples & Non-Examples: See sentences showing exactly where the word fits, and just as importantly, where it doesn't.

Flip any card to reveal WordLens: a deep context layer revealing phrases, lookalikes, and memory aids. One of these sections highlights Common Phrases, which you can add to your word bank with a single click.

This "4D" approach builds the cognitive hooks needed for deep-layer memory encoding.

2. Words and Phrases

Mastery isn't just single words: it's the chunks fluent speakers actually reach for. Alongside vocabulary, the Vault lets you study phrases, mapping your cognitive habits to retrieve whole expressions at once. To push you past hesitation, phrase recall is timed. This gentle clock stops you from overthinking and trains the fast, automatic retrieval that real conversation demands.

3. Say It, Don't Just Type It

Answer however you learn best: type your response, or speak it directly into your mic. When you practice phrases out loud, the Vault grades your pronunciation syllable by syllable, showing exactly which parts are landing and which still need work. 4. Dynamic Story Quizzes
The Vault replaces boring drills with immersion. Hit "Quiz Me" and the system instantly writes a fresh, original story built around the specific words currently in your bank. You are not just memorizing definitions: you are practicing the language in a living, breathing context.

5. Smart Selection (Predictive Recall)
The FSRS algorithm tracks the memory stability of every word you learn: essentially, how close each one is to fading. It surfaces the words about to slip and prioritizes them in your quizzes. By testing you at the precise moment a word is on the edge of forgetting, the Vault turns each review into effortful recall. This targeted resistance is exactly what makes the word stick for good.

The LinguaVault dashboard tracks your Retrievability: the percentage of your active vocabulary that is currently accessible for real-time recall. It also visualizes your Average Stability trend, mapping how your vocabulary compounds and strengthens over time.
